Mr. Martin I. Izuakor serves as the Coordinator of the ICT Unit. A seasoned IT professional with expertise in telecommunication engineering, Computer hardware engineering, Network Security and forensic professional, Systems engineering, network administration, server analyst, ICT in Education, Electronics Teaching, e-learning , LMS, online collaboration, digital media (OBS), desktop applications, Website administration and content management, electrical installations, IP surveillance system, Solar systems and Inverters, digital transformation and Innovations. He plays a pivotal role in driving technological advancement within the institution.

Under his leadership, the ICT Unit has witnessed significant upgrades in digital infrastructure, software integration, and user support systems. His commitment to innovation and efficient service delivery continues to enhance administrative operations and academic support through technology.

The Information and Communication Technology (ICT) unit of Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University plays a pivotal role in managing and advancing the university's technological infrastructure. This unit is essential for ensuring that the university remains at the forefront of digital innovation, supporting administration, research, and learning through effective ICT solutions.

Overview and Responsibilities

The ICT unit is responsible for the comprehensive management of all ICT facilities within the university, including:

  • IT Devices: Management of computers, laptops, and other digital devices.
  • Computer Hardware and Software: Procurement, installation, and maintenance of hardware and software systems.
  • Network Infrastructure: Design, implementation, and maintenance of the university's network.
  • University Website and Portal Services: Development, maintenance, and security of the university's digital platforms.
  • ICT Buildings: Management and maintenance of ICT-related infrastructure.

The unit's responsibilities extend to:

  • Procurement and Installation: Acquiring and setting up new ICT equipment and systems.
  • Supervision and Distribution: Overseeing the distribution and utilization of ICT resources.
  • Maintenance and Training: Ensuring the upkeep of ICT facilities and providing training to maximize usage.
  • Optimization: Aiming for maximum utilization of resources to increase productivity and minimize costs.

Establishment and Objectives

Established in April 2008, the ICT unit was created with the following key objectives:

  • Information Management: To gather and distribute essential university information, ensuring authorized access for effective decision-making.
  • Infrastructure Development: To establish and maintain robust information and communications infrastructure, facilitating seamless communication between campuses, faculties, departments, and units.
  • Computer Literacy Programs: To design and offer programs that enhance computer literacy within the university and its surrounding environment.
  • E-learning and Research Environment: To create a conducive environment that fosters e-learning, research, and development.
  • Automation Solutions: To design and implement automated solutions in key functional areas of the university.
